My year 2024
This year is coming to an end, and as such, comes an irrepressible need to reflect on it—evidenced by the countless commemorative posts and playlists flourishing here and there. Overall, it has been a very good year, tiresome but thrilling, artistically and humanly rich.
Here is why

Statement
On November 7th and 8th 2023, the Bolshoi Ballet will perform my ballet "Silentium", originally created in 2020.
The performance rights for this work have expired as of September 2023, and the theater has approached me to renew them for another three years. However, my team and I have decided we cannot accept their offer in good conscience.
Both the director of the Theater and the ballet company have decided to perform it anyway, putting myself and my team in a very uncomfortable situation vis-a-vis the dancers and our peers, and I deeply regret it.
About Giselle
“My beautiful ideal is freedom, the right to express oneself for everyone, and for everyone the right to enjoy beautiful things.”
These words of Emma Goldman (1869-1940), anarchist, intellectual and feminist could be the leitmotif of all feminist struggles, both the question of the body and the need to regain control of it, to (re)find its freedom, is at the heart of any claim of these movements. It was pointed out to her that “it does not suit an agitator to dance (…) with such irresponsible abandon” when her only wish was simply to dance. Her ideal was also awkwardly paraphrased “If I can’t dance, it’s not my revolution.”
Season 22/23
After a rather long period of uncertainty due to the health crisis - which is hopefully ending - , but which nevertheless has seen the creation of Silentium at the Bolshoi in 2020, I am pleased to announce three new productions for the 2022/23 season.
Wise words
" Sometimes there's an obsession with technique that can kill your best impulses. But communicating with an art form means being vulnerable. Being imperfect. And most of the time this is much more interesting. Trust me." - Michael Baryshnikov
Combining two passions
For the set design of my last creation with the Ballett am Rhein I used a photo that I specially shot to use in this particular scenery.
Finding a voice
One if my biggest struggles as an independent choreographer - and surely the same as every aspiring freelancer - is getting some tangible responses to my wide-range-outreaching email applications.
